The exhibition was a comprehensive history of the Royal Ballet from their origins to the present day, with particular focus on the influence and life of their founder, Ninette de Valois.

Featuring archive footage, posters, photos and a recreation of Dame Margot Fonteyn's dressing room, the main centrepiece was a three-level plinth displaying costumes from the company's archive.

Hemisphere also designed special showcases for the exhibition, and the show also featured rare sketches and works by LS Lowry, who had been an avid fan of the ballet and from which he regularly drew inspiration.
