Witness-ing the Work of Women War Artists

19 February 2009

Hemisphere has created a campaign to support Imperial War Museum North’s current exhibition Witness: Women War Artists.

Running at IWMN until 19th April, this extraordinary exhibition is the first of its kind in the UK for over 50 years, and brings together the works and personal reflections of key female war artists, from the First World War to the Kosovo conflict.

Our campaign to support the exhibition (which we also designed) includes invitations, direct marketing leaflets, posters and banners. It features a striking, close-up image of a young woman covered with war paint and works well to convey the exhibition’s three key elements – women, art and war – in equal measures.

The 6-sheet and A1-sized posters can be seen across Manchester in key commuter areas, whilst the leaflets can be found around the city at tourist information points and arts houses.  Hemisphere has also created a series of high-profile press advertisements for the exhibition, scheduled to appear in national broadsheet supplements, regional media and art-specific publications.
