Purpose
Since 1988, Hemisphere has amassed over 20 years experience in devising highly intelligent and innovative creative solutions for a wide range of branding and communicating challenges.
The Hemisphere way is to combine quality of thought with quality of execution, with every project receiving the craft, ingenuity and attention to detail that are the hallmarks of the company’s work.
The strength and integrity of our design and marketing solutions has taken us from our initial beginnings within the arts and charity sectors to our current status as a highly-rated multidisciplinary consultancy known for delivering exceptional results in everything from strategic branding and campaign planning to graphic, web, exhibition and environmental design.
In recent years, Hemisphere’s expertise in devising innovative solutions to complex identity projects has led to its renown in the field of destination and place branding, with high profile projects such as successful new identities for Salford, Sunderland and Bolton. Other areas of specialty include a wide-ranging portfolio of work in the culture, regeneration, environment, tourism and public sectors.
- Hemisphere is an approved supplier to the Northwest Regional Development Agency and the COI, is a member of the Design Business Association and has recommended status on the Recommended Agency Register.
People
Hemisphere was founded in 1988* by Creative Director Grant Windridge back when he had Barry Gibb’s hair and a natty line in check jackets**.
Fortunately his dress sense has significantly improved (as the Oswald Boateng bills will testify) and he now heads up a six person-strong design team, aided and abetted by Hemisphere’s Marketing Director, Sue Vanden and her project management team of four.
We are a deliberately small team, preferring to concentrate on quality rather than quantity in the work that we do. What we all share is the drive to come up with the best possible combination of form and function – producing work that is not only creatively top notch, but also delivers the most effective results for our clients. We are also rather partial to Friday lunchtime curries.
*you’ve probably got all the birthday hints by now. Pressies, cards and crates of champagne all welcome…

Place
The Hemisphere nerve centre is Binks Building, a four storey Victorian warehouse building in The Northern Quarter, Manchester’s creative industry hub.
We rescued it from dereliction in 1998 and, following our own small-scale contribution to Manchester city centre’s regeneration efforts, we moved into the refurbished building in 1999.
Since then, the Northern Quarter has become a vibrant and distinctive part of Manchester’s urban landscape – walk out of our front door now and you’ll be spoilt for choice between cocktail bars, coffee houses, delis, vintage clothes shops and Manchester’s world famous independent record stores.
